The reaction of pyridine nucleotide with cyanide and its analytical use.

چکیده
In 1938, Meyerhof, Ohlmeyer, and Mohle (1) reported that diphosphopyridine nucleotide (DPN) reacted with cyanide or bisulfite to form complexes having absorption spectra resembling that obtained by enzymatic reduction of DPN. They proposed that addition of cyanide or bisulfite occurred at the double bond between nitrogen and carbon in the pyridinium ring. In the present paper, it is shown that the ability to form a complex with cyanide is a general property of N-substituted nicotinamide compounds.

Correlation of redox fluorometry and analytical measurements of pyridine nucleotide.
Pyridine nucleotide levels in the corneal epithelium were measured using redox fluorometry, a noninvasive method for monitoring the metabolic status of corneal tissue, and a sensitive bioluminescent assay and an improved extraction procedure that allows the simultaneous extraction and measurement of both NADH and NAD. The same corneas were measured using each of the two methods to enable compar...

We have recently synthesized [Ni (MAP) ] complex [H-MAP= 2- (methylamino) pyridine]. 2- (Methy1amino)pyridine reacts with MeLi in THF and generates the lithium salt (Li-MAP). Further reaction of NiCl with two equivalent of this ligand in THF leads to the formation of a dark red solution. Analytical data, molecular weight, and magnetic susceptibility of this complex confirm the formula [N...

2-(Methylamino) pyridine (HMAP) reacts with MeLi in THF and generates the lithium salt (LiMAP). Further reaction of [Cu(TMEDS)2][CuCl2] (TMEDA=tetramethylethylenediamine) with one equivalent of this ligand in THF leads to the formation of a yellow dimeric Cu(I) complex, [Cu(MAP)]2. Analytical data, molecular weight, and magnetic susceptibility measurements, ...

Background and Objectives: cyanides as carbon-nitrogen radicals are very toxic compounds and highly harmful to humans and aquatic organisms. The efficacy of eggshells (ES) was investigated in this research work as an adsorbent for the elimination of cyanide from polluted streams. Methods: In this experimental study, the capability of ES to adsorb cyanide ions was conducted using a series of batc...
